Ryan Catholic College Townsville

Visual Arts

Visual Arts is offered throughout the year levels to Year 12 and also includes Visual Arts Studies in Year 11 and 12.

By studying Visual Arts, students have the opportunity to explore a wide range of practical art activities such as drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and design. Units of work increase essential skills and confidence in making both 2D and 3D artworks using a range of materials and techniques. Students will be inspired to express innovative solutions through the interpretation of other artists' work. They will study a range of styles and skills as well as learning about international and Australian artists. Other important learning experiences of the course include how to develop ideas effectively, developing good organisational skills and gain greater confidence in personal judgement.

Opportunities exist for students to participate in competitions and exhibitions. These include Art Now at Creative Generation. Students can also participate in workshops conducted by visiting artists.
