Music

Ryan Catholic College provides all students with the opportunity to participate in music regardless of age and level of ability.

Ryan Catholic College music students perform regularly within the College and wider community. The students are given the chance to travel the state on our biennial Music Tour and are encouraged to partake in music camps. Ryan Catholic College students are invited to be a part of the College Musical Production, Mulkadee (Catholic Arts Festival), Townsville Eisteddfod and many students undergo AMEB exams (Australian Music Examinations Board).

The College begins class tuition in musical theory and performance from as early as Prep and students are able to continue this study right through to year 12. Classroom music for the senior years of schooling is a recognised authority subject (with the Queensland Studies Authority) and contributes to the Queensland Certificate of Education. Students will have the opportunity to compose, perform and analyse works of music from a variety of genres. These include: Instrumental, Vocal, Music from the Theatre, Film and TV, Jazz, Rock and Pop.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land and waters, the Wulgurukaba, and that this country has been a place of learning and ceremony for tens of thousands of years. We also acknowledge the neighbouring language groups as brothers and sisters of the land. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging. May we walk gently and peacefully on this land together.
